I feel that there should be a section for game reviews and walkthroughs. However, I don’t think that the reviews should be this long ass essay that one person spent hours making only to have like 2 people read it completely. There should be rules to the reviews such as: Brief description of the game (by brief I mean a paragraph with no more than 4 sentences), Must list pros and cons to the game (every game is going to have some sort of flaw. No such thing as a perfect game sorry guys), The writer of the review should give it a star system or to be cute a piece of cake (after Fat Princess, and portal . . . “the cake is a lie” sorry had to) and say why that rating:
Cake is a lie = game was just shitty that shit can’t even rate it
1 piece of cake = very poor game
2 pieces = needs improvements too many cons rather than pros
3 pieces = neutral pros and cons were about even
4 pieces = awesome game more pros than cons
5 pieces = you have to fucking play this game
The whole cake = it is the shit and kicks ass

Then there could also be a poll attached to each review where others can vote what they think as well. Then the rest of the post on that review thread can be others reviewing that game and then discussions on their personal opinions about the game. Perhaps even debating the game’s goodness and badness.

As far as walkthroughs go, I don’t think the entire game should be listed, but instead parts of a game. For instance, if a person is playing a game and gets stuck on a particular situation or spot and then figures it out they can post a thread about that game and its particular situation and how they solved the problem or where they found the source that helped them solve the problem. This way you can have a thread for portal with its reviews and then with parts of the games that people had a really hard time with and its solutions all under the thread called “portal.”

Another idea:
This one is about betas. It is to my understanding that when you have a beta you are not allowed to talk about the game, but naturally your gonna want to talk about it. So why not create a beta section where each beta has its own password to get into it. Those who have the beta’s have to prove it by pming staff or emailing them the approval notice from that game. Which then they would be given the password to that beta thread and all those who have that particular beta can then discuss the beta privately. Once the game comes out then that thread can be closed or deleted.

There was more but I can’t remember what they were right now so I’ll be getting back to you.

The only problem with the beta idea is that we arent really supposed to post anything about it anywhere regardless of who can read it. As for the cake idea.. epic.

I like your thoughts about the reviews, I was thinking about something along the same lines but I would rather have the reviews reviewed to see if they are worth even having on the site. Members can PM staff and then staff can review the reviews of members and if approved then they can be posted. I don't want there to be reviews to just appear having only one paragraph.

Walkthroughs is a good idea.

Nothing to say about the Beta idea.

Anyhoo, I was wondering is there was any reason why posts are disabled for the featured reviews (and tips/guides if they are as well).

I believe it was a clever attempt by Dave to prevent people from STARTING threads there.... making it "featured" without having been reviewed.... the side effect is that no one can post replies.... duh.

I agree this should be changed... just add a disclaimer that new threads (not posts) there will cause the PSW Gods to smite thee.

Unless of course Dave just overlooked that option in the Admin CP... which is entirely possible.

Actually, there should be the options to differentiate between allowing people to reply and allowing them to post new threads.

All posting is now open.. there is no option to allow replies but not threads. I can make threads moderated, but no way to cut them out completely. For now we will just leave it open and if idiots mess it up then we will switch to moderated threads.
