Marvman is just wondering, and is about to try it out if such discs work
out with the Ps3s'.......

Marv has heard so far, that they only work with the 60 gb Ps3.

Has anyone tried this, and anyone played burned ps2 games
on the Ps3?

And Marvman knows that you cannot mod a Ps3....

Nope, doesn't work. I had a modded PS2 and about and some back-up games. None of which play on my 60GB PS3

Your PS3 would have to be modded to play them just like the PS2.

Just to clarify, PS2 games work on 20 gb, 60 gb, and older 80 gb PS3's. I'm pretty sure that PS2 games work on all PS3's that have 4 USB ports, but I'm not entirely sure. I'm pretty sure all the newer PS3's though only have 2.

Also it's good to see you again marvman! I missed you at Nintendo Worlds.

PS2 support only works for certain models. The models in question have Emotion Engine emulation.

Well folks,
Marvman was already aware of that,
that certain models carry compatibility support.

What Marvman was inquiring about,
was whether or not "Backed Up/Ripped/Pirated" Ps2 (NOT ORIGINALS)
games can play on a backwards compatible Ps3.

But DAmwake answered that.

And Marvman can confirm it,
that they do not work.

Case closed.
